Honest IdeaPlan Review – My Opinion: Is It Worth Using?
Products like ProductBoard, Canny, and Craft are great tools for collecting user/customer feedback, prioritizing product roadmaps and communicating updates with customers and your internal team.
However they start at around $100+/mo/user (with limitations)! While designed for mid-enterprise businesses, IdeaPlan is the perfect alternative for SMBs.
IdeaPlan is great! It’s a tool that, by gathering and organizing customer feedback, feature requests, and other information, offers a phenomenal ROI. IdeaPlan handles the manual review and organization for you in place of doing it yourself.
Users can vote on and contribute on suggestions for new features, which helps developers better understand user needs and interest. This kind of solution increases customer loyalty by not only making your product better but also by demonstrating to customers that you value their opinions.
It is the most effective system of record for PM-related data and for incorporating a process. a fantastic technique to guarantee that all stakeholder feedback is recorded and arranged.
Once primary source data has been linked to as many concepts (features, stories, etc.) as required, they can then be powerfully ranked. effectively enables stakeholder communication at scale. Almost anything I want to do can be done how I want it to be done.
We manually gathered and arranged consumer input in a spreadsheet before utilizing IdeaPlan, which was time-consuming and labor-intensive. For us, IdeaPlan drastically altered the dynamic.
We saved a ton of time and effort because it automated the feedback collection process. Our IdeaPlan board serves as both our company’s compass and our product roadmap.
Prioritizing which things to implement is crucial to us because we are a small team. IdeaPlan also demonstrates the course we ought to be taking.
IdeaPlan includes all the capabilities you’d require for product management, and these features can even serve as a manual for how your product should be managed. Additionally, it is adaptable enough to fit into your workflow.
Utilizing IdeaPlan on a daily basis is really simple and pleasant because to the app’s design and UX. It’s a good idea to create custom views that you can access as needed.
The ability to highlight specific input from consumers and quickly tie it to the appropriate feature idea is IdeaPlan’s most powerful feature, while you can always jump to the complete feedback if you need additional explanation.
Additionally, the customer portal view is stunning, and we’ve seen that this motivates consumers to give more thorough feedback as opposed to some other solutions out there that only rely on voting.
Exquisitely crafted. While the features are very deep, they are also simple to use and learn. It’s difficult to choose out my favorites because practically everything is excellent and delightful.
The team can look back at the origin of an idea and comprehend the whole context because to the way it maintains a link between features and the consumer input/feedback associated with those features.
A great little extra is the ability to export email addresses for everyone whose input is associated with a feature with just one click, allowing you to easily contact them to solicit additional input or inform them that their requested feature is now available.
I adore the simple layout and user-friendly UX. IdeaPlan excels at gathering and maintaining customer feedback, and I really appreciate all the connectors with Intercom. The capability to gather, enter, and attribute feedback to a user rather than requiring the user to enter it is one highly helpful feature.
Since we no longer say “We’ll pass your comments along,” it’s wonderful to be able to demonstrate to a user that their feedback was gathered and considered. Now the user and others can interact with others who share their interest in the feature by viewing their proposal.
We adore IdeaPlan’s simple, user-friendly UI since it makes it so simple for our users to explore and provide comments. The changelog function of IdeaPlan is really helpful in clearly displaying the development of our product.
Product development is now more collaborative thanks to IdeaPlan. It has evolved into a team effort that includes both the product’s creator and its users. Making our product map public enables us to interact and engage with users in a transparent manner.
It demonstrates our concern for what our users want. Additionally, this promotes customer loyalty. I also adore the IdeaPlan staff. They are constantly very receptive. The creators of IdeaPlan are very committed to creating a solution that has a real, beneficial effect on businesses.
During their 4-day founders edition deal, you can grab your lifetime account with virtually no limitations.

Personal Experience – How IdeaPlan Works
For our Product Management, IdeaPlan is a very user-friendly application that enables us to follow the features from the insights we acquire to the delivery. The shared roadmap’s user interface (UI) makes it simple to use and comprehend, and it is crucial for collaboration with other services (R&D, sales, and support).
Using IdeaPlan is a terrific experience. It is one of the simplest ways to keep track of and informed about the progress of all projects involving a product. It’s also useful to gather and organize customer reviews.
All it take is just 4 simple step:
- Capture Feedback
- Make Informed Decisions
- Prioritize & Roadmap
- Make Announcements
Ability to organize consumer feedback and connect that feedback’s significance to features. When setting roadmap priorities, this enables us to track back comments and view it in context.
The option to prioritize features based on several parameters has also been added, making it the greatest overall tool I have discovered for prioritizing a roadmap based on multiple factors.
You can create as many boards, roadmaps, changelogs and have as many contributors and users as you would like.
We have an “Agency add-on” that was designed for agencies that work with clients, where you can create sub-accounts and invite them to a specific sub-account to access all of the great features of IdeaPlan. This add-on is available for purchase after investing in the “unlimited” license.
You will receive automatic updates whenever a new feature or enhancement is rolled out. Make sure to check our product roadmap and our changelog to stay updated on everything we’re working on.
Let’s check the demo video below to see it in action!

IdeaPlan Review Rating
- Now the user and others can interact with others who share their interest in the feature by viewing their proposal. Although it’s so simple, you’ll seldom ever need it, there is also excellent assistance.
- There is no better method to document your input than to attach it to a feature that a user has requested, which is even more crucial. Additionally, it’s incredible to be able to view all features strategically.
- A wonderful method to discuss your roadmap with stakeholders and open negotiations. ability to directly link user comments to particular features
- I adore being able to group insights into different categories, allocate them to certain individuals or businesses, and affix them to features or concepts on the roadmap.
- It’s been wonderful and has helped my business keep on the same page with regard to product priority.
- Although we imported feature requests from an excel file, which was AMAZING, I wish my face/name weren’t on those requests.
- There are a few features that are already on IdeaPlan’s feature request list that would be wonderful to include (IdeaPlan uses IdeaPlan, which is great). So I have faith that it will improve over time and surpass what it presently is (which is rather fantastic!).
- Not all tools require this tool, though. Unless the product team instructs users on how to use it. Once everyone realizes how important a tool it is, switching to something else is difficult.
